A Bright, Open Retreat in Kahala
Learn what you need to know before starting your construction project.
Every remodeling project presents its own opportunities and challenges, and this Kahala home was no exception. Located within a flood zone, the renovation required thoughtful planning and careful coordination to meet regulatory requirements while achieving the homeowners’ vision for a brighter, more connected living space.
The homeowners dreamed of a home that felt open, welcoming, and closely connected to the beauty of the outdoors. By thoughtfully reconfiguring the layout, we opened the kitchen, living room, dining room, and family room into one cohesive space. From the moment you step through the front door, your eyes are drawn through the home to the sparkling pool and the lush greenery beyond, creating a seamless visual connection between the indoors and outdoors.
Because the homeowners have a passion for plants, preserving and showcasing their landscape was central to the design. Expansive views and abundant natural light allow the surrounding tropical greenery to become part of the home’s interior, bringing a sense of calm and nature into the everyday living experience.
In addition to the home’s transformed living spaces, we also remodeled a bathroom using universal design principles to enhance comfort, accessibility, and long-term livability. The space features a curbless shower, wider clearances, thoughtfully placed grab bars, and easy-to-use fixtures, all integrated into a clean, modern design. By blending functionality with style, the bathroom provides a safe and welcoming environment that can adapt to the homeowners’ needs for years to come.
The result is a light-filled, contemporary home that feels spacious, inviting, and perfectly suited to both entertaining and quiet family living. This renovation demonstrates how thoughtful design can overcome site constraints while transforming a home into a place that truly reflects the lifestyle and passions of the people who live there.
